These wonderful vintage beads are circa 1920s/30s. They are fashioned from one of the plastics of the time. I semichrome tested them and they didn't seem to test bakelite, although they look and feel like it. They are heavy and not the hollow, light weight beads of the 40s/50s and look as if they are actually faceted and not molded. They measure 28 inches long, the smallest bead is about 10mm and the largest measured 1 1/8 X 3/4 inches. They are in very good condition with no problems. Someone restrung them sometime in thier life on metal and they have a fairly contemporary clasp. The beads are a true medium coral color, not orange or red. |
