This wonderful looking watch/brooch is vintage circa 1940s. It’s made by the famous Swiss company Bucherer. The figural is a coachman, complete with top hat, horse and buggy. The watch face is gold colored and the metal of the watch is a very deep looking gold metal. We have tested with gold acid both the horse portion of this piece and the watch case. The horse section did not hold up but the watch case held up to 14kt acid. Since the piece is not marked as such, it may just be very heavily gold plated. The watch runs well and this piece is in great condition. It measures 2 X 1 1/2 inches. I have bought and sold many Bucherer watches, some were precious metal and some were not, all were wonderful looking and ran well. I don t know if the ruby is genuine or not. On the back portion of the watch works inside is marked, 15 jewels, Bucherer, unadjusted, Swiss, AR. No marks on the inside of the casing.
