This pretty and unusual evening bag is circa 1930s or 1940s. It is fashioned from silky brocade fabric on the outside and patterned silk on the inside. The clasp is carved jade which looks like birds and flowers. It looks like it opens like a regular bag of this sort but then once unsnapped, it opens like a box and is shaped like one. The bag measures 8 x 7 x 1 inches. On the inside there are five seperate compartments and also a little change purse. The compartments look fitted as if they are for lipstick, a comb, compact, etc. The bag is all very clean, the only mentionable is the solid colored fabric under the front flap has a few light age spots on it.
